The Babysitter

Sam started walking, getting up to the giant boy's belly button. He climbed up to the fabric of his blue Pokémon shirt.

He could feel weird vibrations underneath his bare feet. Sam was in awe. They felt like tiny earthquakes. He heard a low rumbling sound, a sound a tiny plane might make. The tiny teen was confused. What is that sound?

It came to him like a lightbulb moment. It was the giant boy's stomach growling. He certainly must be hungry; they never had dinner together. Jacob was pooped from his long and exciting day, so tired in fact that he'd missed dinner and fallen straight asleep. Sam looked up at the kid's soft face. "I'm sorry, dude. I'll get back to normal and get you something to eat," Sam said, more to Jacob than to himself. Sam ventured onward, up the boy's chest on his t-shirt.

Balance was incredibly difficult on this new terrain. With Jacob's chest rising and falling with each breath, the ground beneath the teen was unstable. Plus, Jacob's head was resting on his pillow, making the boy's upper body slope upwards. A couple times, Sam lost his balance and slid down. But both times, he got back up and kept walking.

He hopped off of Jacob's t-shirt and landed back on the warm, squishy skin near the base of his neck.
