Beyond the lines

You are in a war. You stand next to your friend, James, while you fire out at the enemy.

"Look out!" Someone calls behind you, and two hands push you away. The next second James is next to you and you're on the ground. An explosion sounds behind you and a pained wail.

You look behind you to see someone's body go flying.

"Let's keep going." James says.
