I Am No Orphan!
For a long time you say nothing, only the blackness, the emptiness of being alone. This is what you feared.
The Captain says nothing, but even as sobs wrack your small body you sense a hand on your back as if in comfort. After a minute your eye opens a crack, he's not looking at you but you hear the faintest humming of a lullaby. It's not much real comfort but it's the first kind thing you've heard in days.
By now you are feeling warm again.
After a long pause the Captain speaks.
