The Fire
You stay the course on the path to the treasure. Your plodding steps are sluggish, and you get a nagging feeling that this may not be the right direction to head in. You look ahead at the treasure one more time, and it still does not appear to be any closer than it was before.
You turn backward and look for the woman. There is no one there. An empty darkness is the only thing that you see where the woman used to be.
You turn back around. You do not see anything, except for the light, now fainter than it was before, off to the side. The treasure is gone! The entire treasure trove has disappeared, without a single gold coin remaining from the image that you had seen earlier.
You have to go back to the light. Your eyes look for it.
It is where it was before, flickering in the darkness.
