"Dmitry?!" Jacob slams his drink down, fire in his eyes as he glares at you. "Dmitry Knight?! Dat man ought tah burn in 'ell."
"Why?" You press on, trying to get some answers from the man.
"Why?! I tell yah why!" Jacob gulps down half of his beer. "Dat man ruined me life, he did. I was successful once. Yah believe dat? I worked for da government, hadda nice, steady pay. Until Dmitry Knight came took it away from meh.
"He was workin' for da news and doin' some 'investigatin'', he called it. Thought da government was bein' corrupt or somethin'. He wrote an article dat accused somebodah ah promisin' people jobs in da government if dey got elected."
"A spoils system?" You don't remember hearing about this, but it could have happened before you moved to Eatonville.
"Whateve' yah wanna call it, I lost mah job 'cause he wrote dat God-forsaken article! Now I ain't got nothin'! I tell ya, if I ever got mah hands on him-"
