You turn around and head back towards the command tent near the East wall. You feel it is best to air your concerns. If nothing comes of it, there are no worries. Plus, you know that Master Obreal is a reasonable man.
Some people you recognize as your fellow Guardsmen bar your entrance when you are about 25 feet away from the tent.
"Can I help you?" The question is almost rhetorical.
You explain your wish to speak with Master Obreal or to have them proxy a message to him for you. The two guards nod at each other, and one leaves to enter the tent. After a thirty second pause, a hand sticks out of the entrance to the tent and it motions you on. The guard outside stands aside.
Hmph. That was easy.
Upon entering the military tent, you notice it is much larger than it looked from the outside. Obreal has chests of clothing, a private restroom and even a small bathing area. Obreal is centered in the tent, which makes him look kind of small. He finishes scrawling something on a banner-sized piece of paper before he looks up at you.
You had seen Master Obreal many times before. He teaches every new batch of Guardsmen the trick of the trade at the beginning of each year and you get to encourage these newbies with sneers and chide remarks. It's certainly something else to stand in his tent with him. Usually you relate charisma and a stern but kind look with this man. Right now, he looks strained.
"You're from the 5th troupe, right?" He didn't wait for an answer. "I have a job for you. It's... very dangerous. I'm sure you understand that unless you agree to the mission I can't even let you know what it is. Think about that carefully before you agree to anything."
Obreal finishes his piece and just looks at you, waiting for an answer.
