Hall of Infinite Doors

Instead he immediately went to the library. The library was full when he got there, so he waited until a girl from the computers left to get on. He remembered what to do now, and had read his email address before he left and repeated it to himself the entire way there. He was glad he paid attention to the librarians because today he got on his email account on his own, and was even on a different computer than the two days before. He had one Spam message and one message thanking him for starting an email account from the owners, but he hadn't gotten a reply from the musician yet. He got off the computer because he saw there was an old woman waiting. She smiled and it made him feel good. One of these days he would get his parent's email addresses and surprise them, or send them Spam, he laughed inside.

He headed back to his home to check on his money, as he liked to do. He used to have a hiding spot, but birds built a nest where it was, so he moved his money back inside his guitar case. He checked to see if the money was present and it was. He noticed the two tickets, and he remembered that he needed to see if they were winners. He knew the chances were slim, but it would be exciting to see anyway. He wasn't doing anything, so he ate quickly and left with all his money and his two tickets.

He liked the the convenience store he visited, because they were the ones who had sold him his notepad. He found the cashier was the same girl that had been there the other day, and he felt nervous approaching her, but she didn't seem to remember him at all and didn't mention the notepad. So he pulled out the two tickets and asked her if they the store took them. He didn't know if this was the correct term for it, but she understood and said yes. She asked if he'd like to check them to see if they won, and he shook his head positively. She checked the first ticket and frowned due to an error. She checked it again, and apologized, it was not a winner. She checked the second one and paused. She checked it again. She checked it a third time. She stared at it for a second and smiled. The ticket was a winner. It was a matching ticket for the $104 million dollars.
"Normally", she explained, "We give you cash right out of the register, but this is a big winner, so we need to send this in with postage and whatnot."

He understood. He asked for the ticket back, and asked to use her phone. They had no phone available, so he went to a pay phone, and dropped in a quarter. Surprisingly, his father answered.

"Hello, Dad?", John started.

"Well, speak of the devil!", his father replied, "How'd you manage to find the balls to call us again?"
John tried to explain himself and justify his asking for money in previous phone calls, but gave up and told his father the story. This required a total of two more quarters to extend the time.
