Xeresgate

You decide to let the old man know you're there. You call out to him, "Ho there, stranger! I wasn't quite sure what to make of you for a moment. Please forgive me."

The old man's face lights up and his ears perk forward at probably truly the first kind voice he's heard in days. "Ah, glorious!" he says, not straining his eyes to see you (He obviously knows how well he can't see!). "Perhaps you can tell me where I am, dear boy?"

You look around at your general bearings and find that in all your walking, you've only made it to the western side of Xeresgate. "Um, it seems that we're just west of Xeresgate." You take his arm to point it, "If you just travel that way for a few minutes, I'm sure you'll come across the western gate into town. Perhaps a guard or someone may help you from there."

He smiles with a wrinkled old grin, and pats you on the hand. "Oh, thank you, dear boy. After all these years, I'm finally coming to the close of my journey."

His face beams with sudden enlightenment, "Perhaps you'd like to sit here with me and have a smoke of my pipe before you go, son?"

It's certainly tempting. The smoke from the pipe smells so sweet that you can only imagine what it would be like. However, you do need to be getting on your way...

What will you say?
