Puritan

September 16, 1620

Dear Diary,

Yes, I'm calling you Diary from now on. I feel it's so much more informal than Journal...now maybe we'll get to know each other more.

Anyway, today's the day we set sail for the New World. Most of my men, numbering a hundred-two in all, came from the Scrooby (we named our dog Scooby in honor of this city), and good men they are indeed. We have such illustrious names in the Puritan world as William Brewster, John Hooke, and John Carver. Being a Puritan, I distrust them all. Who knows what they're plotting?

I think they're all trying to overthrow me, personally. But we'll see how the voyage goes.

As I presently write, we are departing from the town of Plymouth, heading to the New World. I shall do what Oliver Cromwell did not, and give the Puritans the drab, God-adoring world they've always wanted.
