Assault of the Sorcerer Kings
The group headed for the cluster of trees, spurring their horses to make haste while the five vampires gained on them from behind.
As the horses galloped into the trees, Austius lept from the back of his mount and grabbed hold of a low hanging branch. He quickly swung himself atop the branch and pulled back the string of his bow with a fresh arrow.
Glavian dismounted next, drawing his massive blade from its sheath. The dwarf soon stood beside him, axe at the ready.
The rogue, Mordel, skittered to the back, prepared to fight only if there was no escape. Jamis stood near him, prepared to fight, but too frightened to stand at the front lines.
The druidess was concentrating on a canteen of water, staring into it's depths as though willing it into wine.
"If'n yer thirsty, drink it girl," Ront said to her; "Otherwise put it away. The vamps will be here any minute now."
Swan did not respond, did not so much as blink, so deep in her concentration was she. The dwarf snorted in derision and went back to watching for the oncoming group of blood suckers.
