Summer Vacation
What the heck, you think. I'll give her a call.
She answers and you talk for a bit.
"Hey," she says, "I'm heading over to a bonfire at the beach. Wanna come?"
"Sure," you say. "I'll check with my folks and be right over."
This sounds exciting. You go and ask your mom.
"Hey mom, I met this girl at the pool, and she's having a bonfire at the beach tonight. Can I walk on down there and check it out?" you ask.
"Absolutely not," she says. "You smelled like smoke today and now you want to go to a bonfire with some girl. I'm worried about you. Don't mention it again."
You head back to your room with your head hung low.
You could just accept it, but the image of Claire in that little red bikini stays in your mind. Maybe you could tell your parents that you are going over to Matt's house and go to the bonfire instead. You don't like to lie, but it sounds really enticing.
