Interdimensional Traveler by sansevieria
You duck into an abandoned bookstore and hide out for a while. You see two creatures emerge into the street that look like zombified humans. One of them picks up a stray cat and eats it alive.

Apparently the virus from 12 years ago mutated humans, and they have become carnivorous beasts!

You start to get out your remote control to get out of this dimension, but you realize you dropped it out in the street when you were looking for a place to hide.

One of the mutant humans picks up the remote, and you watch in horror as he presses a button combination and vanishes, along with your only way out of this dimension.

You hide in the abandoned bookstore until the other mutant leaves. You realize that you must try to find some form of food and shelter or you will not survive long in this cruel dimension...

You must also try to see if any traces of humanity remain here. Even though it appears humanity was wiped out, there may still be a few clusters of people somewhere in the world.

It also occurs to you that if you can find some sort of abandoned electronics store, you might be able to make a new dimensional transporter. It is certainly worth considering - you don't necessarily want to spend the rest of your life in this hell hole. But you may not be able to find the tools and equipment you need to build your new dimensional transporter. You could also wait here and hope the mutant comes back.

You might need a weapon. The other mutant - who did not take off in your transporter - has a machete-like weapon. You could try to fight him for it, and if the other mutant returns, you would easily reclaim your transporter.
See if you can find any non-mutant humans
