Much of Nothing
"Yeah," You say, "You're probably right." You sit up and she rolls off of the rock and into the water. You follow her into the chill water, swimming behind her to shore.
By the time you get to shore she is bending over in front of you to pull her pants on. Looking at her behind like this makes you want to go back out to the rock and recreate what happened a few moments ago. But her pants are up before you can entertain further fantasies. You walk up behind her and cup her breasts with your hand, kissing on the back of her neck. She steps away from you, a smile on her face, and puts her shirt on.
You get dressed quickly and follow her along the trail and back towards the car. The hill is steeper than you remember, but the way is made easier by the up close view of Terri's ass swaying before you.
At the top of the hill you find Dan walking towards you. "I was just coming to find you guys," He says.
It's a good thing we left when we did, you think. Terri seems to be thinking the same thing from the look she gives you.
"Was there anything cool up ahead?" He asks.
"Just a rock in the river," You tell him.
He doesn't ask anymore, just follows the two of you through the twisting and turning rising and falling trail. When you get to the car he has one more question, this one for Terri.
"You don't happen to have another joint in the car do you?" He asks of her.
"I do, but I don't feel like going for another walk." She replies.
"We could just smoke it outside the car," Dan suggests.
"Shut up and get in," She replies, unlocking the doors and starting the car.
She drives through the little town to get back on the highway and heads back for home. The drive back seems somehow shorter than the drive there. You play the alphabet game and lose when you get stuck with Q. Dan makes plans to get some beers from his cousin and invites both of you to his house.
Neither you nor Terri plan on attending. Terri drops him off at his house and you wave him goodbye, wishing him well and promising to hang out with him over the summer.
Terri drives you home and you make out for a while with her before getting out and going home. The sun sets as you reach for your front door. Your mother stands inside, complaining about the dishes you were supposed to have done.
Time passes over the summer and you find yourself seeing less and less of your friends. You date Terri for a while before you realize that you just aren't right for each other. You remain good friends long after the break-up until one day when she is busted for distributing marijuana.
You're not sure what the future will bring, but whatever comes, you are sure that summer will stay with you until the day you die.
