Heart of an Assassin
Kalem is holding the katana next to his right side. You decide that he probably won't be able to move the katana quickly enough to block you if you attack from the other side.
You come at Kalem from the left, swinging your katana at his supposedly unprotected side.
Suddenly, faster than the eye can see, Kalem draws his katana. He swings it round, and there is a loud CLANG as the two blades strike each other.
Kalem knocks your katana flying out of your hand, and raises his blade to your throat, pressing hard enough to draw a drop of blood.
Kalem lowers his katana, and sighs. "In a real fight, you would have been dead," he observes. He turns round, lightly tossing the katana to the floor. "Your training will start at dawn," he says. "You should get some rest. You can bed down in the other room."
After a moment's hesitation, you do so.
