Final Quest
You stab the killing blow, and Bora staggers backwards, clutching at his chest. He looks up at you as if he can hardly believe that you have won, and then collapses.
You don't pay any more attention to him, though. Barely before he has hit the ground, you are rushing over to Alasse and Torai. You fall to your knees beside them, and your sword drops from your fingers. You don't need Torai to tell you. Alasse is doomed.
You reach out with trembling fingers, and remove the blindfold from Alasse's face. This action reveals green eyes which stare up at you with a gentle look in them, no pain or fear, or blame for you being the cause of her death.
"Did you beat him?" Alasse asks in a low voice.
You nod slowly, feeling tears fill your eyes, threatening to fall. Torai puts his free arm around you.
"Good." Alasse reaches out, and lightly touches your hand. "Don't blame yourself," she breathes. "I'm glad I met you, and was able to help." She turns her head, and then gives a faint smile. "Look."
You look around, and realise that life is flooding back into the land. Before your startled eyes, people start rushing into the kingdom again.
You turn back to Alasse, and realise that the seer has died. She looks so peaceful, you could almost believe that she was sleeping, save for the ugly wound in her chest.
Torai slips his arms around you and holds you as you allow the tears to fall. The kingdom is saved. You will grieve now for your fallen friend, and celebrate later.
