Silent, but Deadly
You take his word that he is on you side. You give him some water and some food. He tells you that we must move quickly before the commanding officer wakes up and makes his morning rounds. You help him up and you give him your fifle so that he may have some type of protection in case you are encountered.
You take the lead and head out towards the bunker in which he claims the prisoners are being held. He tells you there is a shortcut between the observation towers and the radio bunker. He insists that he goes in first, but you reassure him that you are capable of leading point. As you enter the bunker, something odd catches your attention. No one is guarding the holding cell. This is easy...too easy. As you approach the bars of the holding cell, you expect to hear an uproar from the captives, but here is none. You walk in and four figures come out from the shadows. One of the figures speaks in broken English, "We have been expecting you."
The lights come on and you are not happy with what you see. You have been tricked. You gave up your weapon to a total stranger. A big no-no. And to put the icing on the cake, he was behind you giving signals to his comrades. This is why he wanted to take the shortcut. He didn't want to kill you, he wanted to imprison you. Maybe now you can get that much needed rest that you have been waiting for.
