The Item
You rush back to your house, making shortcuts down sidestreets of the city to get there before Elam's men. You succeed in this. You burst through the hut door and find the Item.
"Faern, my daughter, we must leave! They have found us! Forget your belongings, we must leave!"
"Why father?"
"Do not dawdle, Faern. We leave now!"
But it is too late. Elam and his men enter, spears drawn. They impale your adopted daughter on the spot, the spear going straight through her heart.
In a fit of rage, you grab you sword from its sheath on the wall and take out one of Elam's two men. His other guard brandishes his axe, but not in time. You kill him in one quick slash.
"So," Elam sizes you up. "This is what it has come down to. A king and his assassin. Why did you come attached to that thing? You should have known that it would be your demise."
You two begin your fight to the death, with Elam taking the opening cut, one which you parry. You then counterattack and land a blow. Elam grabs his stomach in anguish, but with his last effort kills you. A man dieing for his child.
