Final Stand

The scratching persisting, you wearily open your eyes and roll over face up.

Sitting up in bed, you see that night has fallen. The only thing that appears to be moving is the shadow of the leaves of the elm tree outside on the wall opposite the window.

As you take on full consciousness, you exclaim aloud "The generators"! Getting out of bed, you quickly slip clothing back on and run over to the window.

Looking out onto the street, you can see the dark clothed bastard vampire-things moving about as they try and find a way into your stronghold. Although you can't see your front door from this vantage, you gather that the scratching noise that woke you is them clawing at your front door. Disgustingly, you think about the daylight hours of the last year when you have found broken fingernails stuck into the wood of the door. Because of their persistence, you long ago reinforced the door with additional locks and a steal throw bar.

"Neviiiiiilee" a voice taunts in the night, "Neville, come out"! With the sound of that voice, you bound for the door and the stairs.

As you hurriedly make your way to the generator, you think about the one vampire creature that still has some command of voice. Aaron Deville. You had known him before the plague as a co-worker; you have known him since the plague as the one vampirish devil still in command of some of his mental faculties.

Making your way in the almost complete darkness of the garage, you come to the generator. Flipping the switch and it sputters to life. As the generators come up to speed, light fills and the garage as your sure it must be surrounding almost the entirety of your stronghold on the outside.

You begin to hear the screeching of the things outside. While the artificial light doesn't appear to harm them, they are deathly afraid of the light, and will avoid it at almost any cost.

The danger of being overrun seems to have been averted. What shall you do now?
