You snatch up the ray gun and aim for the lead creature. You pull the trigger, but nothing happens. The ray gun is to water soaked to fire!
You can't even struggle to your feet before the creatures pounce on you. You fight them as best you can but more keep showing up. Exhausted and half drowned you are no match for the stocky creatures.
With several of them holding you down one of their number stands before you. To your surprise he speaks to you in a low croaking voice, "Why have you come to this place?"
