You turn around and start bolting towards your base. As you run past a corner, a few Kornalds come around the corner. They shoot their lasers a you and, seeing as how your back is turned, you do not see the bullet. It hits you in the back. You fall forward while you are running and skid along the ground for a foot or two. Before your head hits the ground however, you are dead.
