She picks at her long, green nails as she talks. Rapidly. It's hard to keep up with her, always. "Well, rumor has it that Carmen and Violet broke up again, but Carter proposed to her in the cafeteria in front of the, like, entire grade. Can you imagine? That's like, so pathetic. Violet dumped her lunch tray all over him, and I think there was hot soup in there, so he got so burned. Oh, that's a double-entendre, I guess."

You think about correcting her, but she keeps on talking so you hold your tongue. Her sharp emerald eyes examine you closely.

"Anyway, I'm going to host a party tonight. I'm going to have, like, everyone over. At least all the cool kids. And the hot ones. You in?"

"So am I a cool kid or a hot one?"
