Detective Wolf and the Flatwoods Fighter

Wolf unhinged the jaw of the dead catfish and saw the object fall out. His eyes widened as he locked in on it. It was a piece from the painting. Specifically the portion that showed the deer's head. A stray leech bit down on that piece of the painting and went to town. Then, it jerked once, twice before floating up, dead. Poison. The painting was poisoned. Just like that, Wolf knew why Kenwood's death was a murder, and not a suicide. He bent down and touched the wooden frame of the painting fragment and pulled it up. He turned back to the Sailor. Fortunately he was alive. The culprit had not killed him yet. Unfortunately, he was unconscious. Most likely from blood loss after he stupidly unraveled the compress Wolf put on his wound.

Wolf walked back to see where the culprit was. He was so close to solving this case, but the culprit was like an animal, most dangerous when wounded.
