You understand nothing as far as you can tell; everything is so confusing, this behavior that you see. Why are they going in circles? Who are these men? Though you might be able to gain clues and piece together all the details, some of the elements just seem off; the coloring of their robes, the formation of their walk, the chanting, and the building that they are walking around. One might assume that it is a religious practice and that they are doing worship, but you know better to try to really see what is going on at the most fundamental, rudimentary level. You can draw as many inferences as you like, and you still won't know what they are doing.
