"I'm glad you're alright." I tell him.
He nods his head. His eyes are red and puffy. He looks like he's been crying.
"I'm glad you found me too." He tells me.
I look around the room for the lights. There are dozens of naked men on the floor, and at least a dozen or so are pounding into them. The music is deafening. I'm going to have to leave soon. I look at Rex again. His eyes are fixated on my chest.
I feel my face get hot. I feel like a deer caught in a pair of headlights. Rex looks up my face and into my eyes. He leans towards me and puts a hand on my thigh.
"Utah..." he says my name softly, like he's afraid someone might hear.
He slowly leans in and our lips touch. It is the most natural thing in the world. Our lips are soft. Our teeth don't meet. Our breath doesn't mix. Our lips are warm and dry.
Our lips are tender, but not painful. I don't want this to end. Our lips stay together for what feels like an eternity. Our faces stay close. Our noses touch. Our eyes stay open.
Feelings I had for Rex since before he left came to the surface and I had become fully aware of them. I like him, I like him a lot. I don't care that we kissed. I don't care that we're in a gay bar. I care that he's here with me. I care that he's back, and I never want him to leave again.
The strobe effect becomes faster and faster until it's nothing more than a solid white light. My eyes water. I feel a tear fall down my cheek.
"Thanks for coming to find me." He says, "I appreciate it. I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't showed up."
"You're welcome. I'm glad I did." I say back to him.
"Listen, I want to tell you something." Rex says.
"What is it?"
"I'm in love with you."
I blush at the confession.
"I feel the same way." I say.
"I know. I can tell." He says, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have come back."
"No. I'm glad you're back. I missed you."
"I missed you too." We both say at the same time.
A hug is formed between us. Rex pulls away first.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for everything."
"No. It's okay. I forgive you."
"I know you do. I just can't forget." We both say together again.
The two of us hug again. This time we don't pull away. I feel his warm lips against my cheek.
"I love you." I tell him.
"I love you too."
He leans in and kisses me again. This time our lips don't part. They stay together. Our tongues dance against each other. Our breath catches in our lungs. The world seems to stop during our kiss.
I feel a hand on the back of my head. I break away from Rex and look at him. His eyes are bright. He is beaming. I can't help but smile back at him.
He starts to unbuckle the straps of his overalls.
