"Jesse, you wouldn't lie to me, would you?" I asked.

He chuckled. "I don't see why I would."

I sighed "I can tell. You were acting...I don't know. Different."

I watched him drive. I studied his features. The hedgehog's brow was furrowed, showing his confusion.

"Maybe it's just that hike. I mean, it's not normal for you to act that way."

His eyes widened. "Nothing's wrong."

I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah," I sighed. "Nothing's wrong."

We arrived at my house. I let myself out of Jesse's truck.

"I'll see you later," I told him.

I trudged up the sidewalk to my house, leaning on the door. It was late, but I couldn't go to bed yet. I watched Jesse drive off. I went to my room and collapsed on my bed.

My vision became blurry. The sound of a metal bell ringing began to loop in my ears every six seconds. I had a terrible dream, in which I was trapped in a cage, being dragged through the streets. I kept trying to escape, even though I knew I wasn't going to. My vision began to get more blurry as the sound of faint screaming started to play in my ears. I woke up with a start. I realized that what was playing in my ears was my own screaming. I was trapped in my own nightmare. I wanted so badly to wake up, to escape, to not be here.

The sound of metal scraping against a hard metallic floor joined in. The screaming and the metallic sounds stayed. Then it just became my own screams repeating on loop. Then there was nothing, darkness.
