Everything Went Dark
Of course they'd pick Jennan up. Why would they not? Besides, the snail was slow and they were less than five minutes away. Oh, but this isn't the kind of story where everything works out. It's a story where everything goes wrong. Another car came speeding at them, hitting Addie's van and causing them to flip over. The other car, who had also flipped, had almost just as much damage as the people in Addie's car.
As far as anyone could tell, the only living people in the car were Addie, Emma, and kind of Tatum. Tatum was going in and out of consciousness, she was bleeding pretty heavily from a head injury. Addie was basically fine. The airbag had saved her. Emma was bleeding a bit, not as much as Tatum, but she was still bleeding pretty badly. She was unconscious, but breathing. And as for Elliana and Evie...well. The airbag hadn't done it's wonders for Evie like it did for Addie. Evie's head just happened to be turned as they were hit. As she was slammed into the airbag, still looking out the window, her neck snapped. Ouch. Elliana was half out the window. She probably hit her head really hard or something, the ones alive couldn't really tell what had happened to her. Just that she wasn't breathing.
A good thing about this was that Addie and Emma could find their way out of the car just fine. And Tatum, who was still breathing, could be pulled out of the car. Pulling her out of the car would require someone to carry her because she couldn't walk in the state she was in, which would slow Addie and Emma down. It would guarantee that Tatum would stay safe, though. Leaving Tatum in the car would allow her to get instant medical attention when help arrived(because someone surely called 911...right?). However, it would risk Tatum dying before help could arrive.
