Everything Went Dark
The amount of pain he was in from the barbed wire and the soreness of his legs from running combined made him miserable. Yet, a surge of adrenaline rushed through his body. He was on his way to freedom. Sirens echoed in his head. Was it coming from the town he had left? Or did he somehow hit his head? Could be both. Just in case people had seen him and were on their way to capture him, he forced himself to his feet and started running again. He was much slower this time because of the excruciating pain he was in. He did hear some faint shouts behind him. He was definitely being chased. Jack forced himself to run faster. Thankfully, no one followed him over the fence. Jack slowed down to a walk. After what felt like years of walking, Jack saw a field of soft, green grass showered with flowers. In the distance, several houses could be seen. There was a wooden sign really close. Read the sign?
