BONUM

An hour passes before the guards return. The sun has now risen high enough to see over the tall yard walls. It’s time for breakfast. The guards corral you into a small group before leading you all towards the mess hall cafeteria. The double doors open slowly to reveal a room, not dissimilar to the one you had gathered in before the groups split up. It was large, enough to fit all the prisoners and their guards easily. Tall, support beams run up the walls, curving slightly as they meet with the white ceiling. The corners of the walls have begun to gain a rusted colour, showcasing the age of the building. There are at least 30 metal tables, all bolted to the floor, each accompanied by two benches. At the far end of the cafeteria stands a small door, warders on either side, leading to the kitchens. You take a seat, staring at one of the barred windows, wondering. Everyone eventually settles into their seats, nibbling on the sloppy baby food that was referred to as breakfast until the doors opened the second time and group 2 entering the hall.

There was something off about the group like they were different from before. Some stood prouder, striding in with confident steps. Others were more cowered. Hunched shoulders and scared eyes. Briefly, you are confused. What happened to them to elicit this type of reaction? Why are some acting differently than others? As group 2 moves into the mess hall, they start to convene at one end of the hall, a gap forming between group 1 and 2.
Curiosity takes hold and you stand, making your way towards the group. Before you reach them, however, the lights suddenly flicker off. Plunging you into darkness.
