Speciation

Congratulations! Have a short and broad snout is in fact the desired trait for this environment as you are able to easily crush the shells of crustaceans, capture amphibians, and snack on small insects with ease. This species of salamander is the 'Spring Salamanders' who also possess a stout body, light brown-orange back and tail with salmon-red small dark spots, as per the typical colours of their environment.

This is a form of parapatric speciation as two species of salamander have become reproductively isolated to give rise to genetic divergence.
