Speciation

The ancestral (original) species, Amphilophus citrinellus, possess traits including molariform teeth and a varied diet, amongst many more. Due to reproduction with this species, these genes have continued as a morphologically distinct species from other hybrid variations. Due to sympatric speciations, your new species are unable to interbreed with other species, hence its gene pool remains separate and authentic.
