Speciation

Congratulations! You, an ancestral male, have mated with a female, who particularly likes your coloration and acoustic reproductive communication. As a result, you have passed on your genetics to the offspring, who passes these on to the rest of their generational line.

The complete genetic mixing of traits between you and your partner has facilitated the development of a new species, which possess additional pharyngeal jaw elongation and relatively small pointed teeth called the Arrow Cichlids. Due to reproductive isolation along the line and factors of polyploidy which allowed the reproduction of hybrids, a new species was created!

This is an example of sympatric speciation. Learn some more?
