The Unnaturals Prequel - Cataclysm

You decide that the Puritan city and their great dome are your best chance of survival. Despite the misgivings of your people and the obvious disdain of theirs, they are still human and will surely treat you as such.

The storm is approaching quickly, already you can feel the effects of the heat on your back as you begin following one of the three large groups splintering from the square. You're heading east in the city, towards the bridge and the Dome many miles away. As the group runs, it seems that the storm is chasing your group specifically. People you pass in the street attach themselves to the group, slowing it down further. Behind you, you can hear the screams of the dying, the moaning of the storm and the horrendous crashing and wrenching of metal as the city crumbles.

Before you know it, your racing across the small bridge that leads out into the suburban countryside. The bridge spans over a small river, which as dropped noticeably in recent weeks, and even more so now. You wonder if the water can slow the storm.

Just before you reach the other side of the bridge and the woodland beyond, you glance back to see if your theory is correct.

It isn't.

The firestorm is so hot that the small amount of water remaining is turned into steam almost immediately, allowing the storm to easily pass over the riverbed and continue its pursuit. Looking ahead, you see what was once lush, green forrestland now turned into a dry brown tinder box. It stretches for miles in all directions on this side of the bridge. You can only assume that the storm will move even faster in here.

You have only one choice. Race through the forest and pray that you reach the Puritan city before the storm catches you.
