Into The Luciverse

Light passes through the colored stained glass window of the St. Lucius’s Cathedral. You can feel the sun’s warmth on your left arm as you do your daily routine of reading the holy scripture. After you finish reading, you take a moment to clasp your hands together and ask for forgiveness. There were a lot of things you needed forgiveness for, like the time you forgot to make a prayer before eating or this morning where you felt too lazy to pray at church. Oh! Let’s not forget the several bottles of alcohol that you downed one after the other. Honestly, it’s quite impressive that you were able to make this prayer at all, though to be honest it seemed like the deity upstairs had already delivered their divine punishment via hangover, it was a shame that they weren’t willing to give a divine intervention for that drinking problem.

You usually come to the church twice a week. There were occasions where the number of visits increased, all of them due to a visit to the tavern. You’re lucky that the gods grant wishes that are within reason, otherwise the current headache would ruin the rest of your day. Eventually you’d feel all of your pain melt away, your shoulders loosen up and you believe you’ll be able to function like a proper human being. After a sigh of relief, you continue to pray, thanking them for an assortment of things, one of the many being the hangover they just cured.

After an ‘Amen’, you slide your religious book back into your bag next to your can of liquid courage. Even though you promised that you would quit the last thirty times you cracked a cold one open, it seemed like you would never leave that life behind. You hop to your feet to do stretches for that hour and a half you sat on the wooden church seat. After a quick skim through your journal, it seems that you didn’t have any plans for today, so… What will you do?
