The Adventures of Atticus King

After a little while, you hear Jude’s hushed sobs. “My baby, oh my Midas, I’m so sorry. I’m so very very sorry. Midas, I’m sorry. Please, forgive me…”
You suspect that this car has more than just a physical attachment. Curiosity gets the best of you. “Sorry to bother you, but why is it such a big deal, I mean, it’s just a car, right”
You can see the rage build up in her face, but then dies down, like a broken toy. Tears roll down her face as she looks out the window. “She’s not just a car. It was my dad’s. He promised she would be mine when I was an adult, but he died when I was 10. I’ve had her ever since, and she’s never failed me.”
You stare at the road. “I’m sorry.”
Jude says nothing but keeps gazing out the window, silently sobbing until she falls asleep.

You keep driving until you find a quiet place to park the car.
