The Disappointment

You rummage around in the top drawer until you locate the corkscrew. You carefully twist the screw into the cork, then push down on the funny little arms that lever the cork out of the bottle neck.

Snap! The screw breaks off at the base, still embedded in the cork. You stare at the broken corkscrew in your hand for a few moments, before angrily tossing it in the kitchen bin. How the hell are you going to get the cork out now? We definitely don't have a second corkscrew anywhere in the house. You desperately search the kitchen drawers for any alternatives, but come up short.

You place the wine bottle back on the counter top and rack your brain for several minutes before coming up with two ideas. You could smash the top of the bottle, or you could try ramming a knife into the cork and try twisting it out.
