/Summary:

"Shepard was born and raised on Mindoir, a small border colony in the Attican Traverse. When Shepard were sixteen, Batarian slavers raided Mindoir, slaughtering her family and friends. Shepard was saved by a passing Alliance patrol, and enlisted with the military a few years later.

During the Skyllian Blitz (2176?), Shepard showed exceptional bravery. When Batarians attacked Elysium, Shepard and Alliance forces took some time to arrive. Shepard's captain noted that upon identifying the enemy, Shepard was greatly insistent that they immediately breach and board one of the Batarian carriers. Upon inquiry, Shepard explained she was familiar with this enemy and that the shuttles moving away and towards the carrier were transporting humans from Elysium for use in the Batarian slave trade. Shepard exclaimed that if they did not extract the humans from the Batarian cargo hold, they would be brutally tortured as part of their grooming to become slaves. Normally, Alliance Command would not authorize such a risky operation, but the Alliance had been working on prototype breaching vessels coined "ringworms" and had been itching to test them. Shepard was also being considered for Alliance N7 program, so the Alliance decided this operation was the best opportunity to test both the prototype and Shepard. Shepard and 5 N7 troops were ordered to board 3 prototypes and launched towards the Batarian carrier with 3 Alliance fighters as escorts. The "ringworms" were named as such due to their long, cylindrical shape and ribbed texture. Four long teeth extended from entrance hatch of the vessel. The teeth grouped together to form a spearhead shape to allow for the penetration of the thick metal. Shepard and her team successfully breached the carrier's cargo hold and the worm's teeth fanned out upon entering the vessels, allowing the soldiers to pour out of the worm through a hatch behind the teeth. The worm generated a small force field around the punctured hull to prevent air from escaping while Shepard and the N7 soldiers quickly formed a perimeter. Battling through a minor contingent of Batarian resistance, Shepard and the team worked their way towards a line of jail cells that housed a two dozen humans as well as a handful of alien races. Each worm could house about 10 bodies, so Shepard and the team didn't hesitate to free all of the prisoners and escort them towards their escape. Upon extraction, one of the worm's reverse thrusters malfunctioned, causing it to explode almost immediately. The other two worms made their daring escape back to the Alliance fleet, successfully boarding with friendlies. Shepard's actions saved 18 humans, 3 salarians, and a drell from a life of servitude under Batarians. Shepard was awarded the Silver Star for her courageous actions and after proving herself as a worthy candidate to become an N7, Shepard was also nominated and accepted into the program.

During the insurrection on Eden Prime, Shepard was deployed with his squad of N7 operatives ahead of the Alliance Navy's main force to deescalate the situation. Orders were to assist the loyalists who were holed up in the spaceport. The loyalists saw defence of the spaceport as utterly essential in preventing the rebels from gaining an aerial dominance or attempting to escape the system; however, this proved to be a tactical error on the part of the loyalists, as they had to abandon the militia armory. Shepard led his team of 8 N7 soldiers to rally with the loyalists at the spaceport and provide them with much needed reinforcements. After assessing the situation with loyalists leaders, Shepard learned that the rebels had the spaceport completely surrounded with only narrow alleys preventing the loyalists from being overwhelmed. However, without access to munitions from the armory, it would not be long before the spaceport would be indefensible. Unfortunately, the armory rested upon hill making a frontal push to retake it foolish. But Shepard realized the rebels' terrain advantage had made them careless, since the majority of their forces were concentrated at the spaceport, leaving the armory undermanned. Understanding that if they could incapacitate the rebel leadership, the untrained insurrectionists would quickly lose direction and surrender to the more organized opposition. With this in mind, Shepard's proficiency as an engineer shined through when he formulated a brilliant plan to seize the armory. Within the grounds of the spaceport, Shepard and two other N7 engineers discovered a dozen drones that were conventionally used for irrigation and retrofitted them to floodlights. Shepard and the other engineers then dropped the personal shields of their body armor so they could instead divert the energy into their omni-tools so that they could produce as many combat drones as possible. N7 biotics and loyalist suppression fire then provided cover for a force of nearly two dozen drones to pass over the nearby rebel force unscathed en route to the armory. The drones were then aligned around the outside of all windows to the armory. The irrigation drones then simultaneously flashed their floodlights to blind the rebel leaders housed inside the armory while the combat drones used high temperature lasers to melt through the reinforced glass. Believing they were surrounding and completely vulnerable, the rebel leadership was quick to order the surrender of their troops outside the spaceport. The Alliance forces lagging behind the N7 forces arrived shortly after to clean up the mess. Shepard's careful handling of the situation that minimized casualties on both sides held incredible foresight in leading towards a peaceful resolution between the rebel and alliance leaders after the insurrection as cooperation with the rebel leaders proved instrumental in quelling the grievances of the resentful residents of Eden Prime. Shepard was commended for his bravery and awarded the Star of Terra the Alliance's highest honor.

Shepard's life on the colonies unsurprisingly made her exceedingly xenophobic. Human colonists often face much resistant and political harassment from the most influential council races that fear human expansion in the galaxy. However, she has shown cooperation when tasked to work with alien sentient races in joint training operations. This is suspected to be due to her impressive military discipline as well as her experience on Eden Prime which displayed to her the vanity of human supremacy that blinds many soldiers of colonial origins to ignore the capabilities of alien species. Shepard's willingness to risk her life for her comrades and fellow humans as she did during the Skyllian Blitz is notable, making her a clear ally of humanity. her further willingness to protect life was shown Eden Prime when she led her team to resolve the situation resulting in zero casualties upon their arrival. Shepard excellent leadership accompanied by her consistent path of good deeds makes her a paragon of the goodness of humanity. Although, her soft nature has created some aggravating situations in the past when it comes to making sacrifices in the field. /
