Mass Effect 1
"The arcturus prime relay is in range... initiating transmission sequence."
A sleek, Alliance space vessel with four bustling engines glides past the gas giant Jupiter en route to an unknown location.
"We are connected. Calculating transit mass and destination..."
Neptune pulls into view but only for an instant as the Alliance cruiser quickly darts past the blue gassy planet
"The relay is hot! Acquiring approach vector."
The vessel approaches pluto. The dwarf planet looks like an ant in comparison to the previous gas planets. The nose of the space vessel points near the dwarf planet, indicating the true destination. But just as quickly as Pluto comes into view, it is left behind with an even smaller object in space becoming increasingly larger... Pluto's moon?
"All stations secure for transit."
No. It was no moon. Not nearly spherical for such a thing. This object had a much more clearly defined shape. As the Alliance vessel approached the peculiar construct, a weak, blue light came into view that further accentuated the satellite's contours. It resembled a long, two-pronged fork with a circular handle. Inside the handle was housed a twin pair of rings orbiting a bright core. A space station? No. It... it was...
"The board is green. Approach run has begun..."
A relay. A massive relay.
"Hitting relay in 3... 2... 1..."
Bolts of blue energy shot from the core of the relay and enveloped the cruiser. As it approached, the spacefaring vessel flew parallel to the relay. It passed the core then followed the two prongs, continually absorbing energy. Then, all at once, the "Normandy" shot away from the relay and out of sight, leaving only a blue lines in its wake.
Thus begins the legendary story of how Commander Shepard saved the known galaxy...
