The Chestnut
A jaunty 50's jingle plays in the background of a flashback.
Josh and Mandy can be seen wearing aprons, and hairnets in the back kitchen of a factory cafeteria.
Musical Narrator: "One day, a young couple was short on cash, The Church was a crumblin' so they had to think fast! They had a young friend, who recently moved, and Josh said 'well...why don't we do that too?'. So they packed up the Corolla with their kitty, smokes and what was left in the fridge, and became Mom and Pop! Workin' in Caaaaaambridge!"
Narrator: "This week, on Mom and Pop in Cambridge...."
Mandy is grilling strips of bacon, as Josh is preparing a batch of scrambled eggs.
Josh sneaks a piece of bacon off the grill line and eats it in delight.
Mandy: "Hey now, Pop! Those are for workers! We'll never keep this business afloat, if you keep eating all our products!"
Josh: Sorry, Ma! You know how this ol' mutt loves his bacon! Our freezer was full of the stuff...Back in Stratford!"
*Audience Laughs*
Mandy: "Nooow Pop, you know those days are behind us. We gave up that wholesome Church life, the day our guitarist prodigy left us in the dust."
Josh: "Yeah...I sure do miss him."
Audience: "Awwww!!"
Josh: "Hey...isn't it about time for a smoke break?"
Mandy: "Let's both take a smoke break!"
They proceed to light cigarettes as the audience cheers.
Suddenly, the big boss man barges through the cafetorium doors!
Boss Man: "Smoking on the job, you two!? That's the last straw! YOOOOUUU'REEE FIIIIRRREEDD!"
Josh and Mandy in unison: "WUHH-OHHH!" O.O
Musical Narrator: "It's Mom and Pop! Workin' in Caaaaaammbridge!"
Mandy: No, nothing like that. Just kind of the same shift doing the same things, it was a small time gig.
Josh: "And I didn't want to deliver pizza's anymore..."
