My hands feel for the ends of the wall and I slow down when I feel my fingertips dip into the door opening, slowly but gently pressing against the crack to push it open. The door, thankfully, made no sound, so I pressed myself against the headboard and looked into the dark room.
It was all too hard to see, but when I did see, my face turned blanker and whiter than deceased Palpatine. I stared into the room of what was most likely Rose Frost, my best friend, and Mandiya, basically sucking their faces off on her desk.
If I didn’t puke then, I never will. I rather would have gone to Mustafar and walked backwards on burning limbs and this, this was the epitome of what would be worse than that.
My curiosity worked in mysterious ways, as I continued staring into what was the equivalent of a soap opera from Corellia flash in front of my eyes.
My back was pressed by a robot into the wall as I was deep into trying to understand what they were whispering about, me trying to escape the protocol bot as it tried to enter Rose’s quarters, which ended in a noise much louder than I wanted it to be.
My hands slammed into the door and it fully opened, as I ungracefully stumbled into the room and held myself onto the wall. Rose and Mandiya stopped, four eyes peering into my soul as the protocol bot apologized and continued it’s merry way to pick up Rose’s laundry from her refresher. My face had never burned brighter.
Mandiya practically unglued himself from Rose and Rose adjusted her coat collars, combing her hair down with her fingers. I straightened up and stared at an unmasked Mandiya, my eyes travelling over his face and- wait.
Wait, wait, wait a pfaasking second. Mandiya is a woman?
“I’m sorry we had to be interrupted. Someone doesn’t know it’s rude to listen in.” Mandiya, or whoever this genderbending hallucination was, said, in a voice deeper than mine and basically reeking of an accent I had only heard from Ren himself. Her hair was collected in an inner braid and some strands were falling out (no doubt from the activity moments before), her lightsaber strapped to her hips and making her legs look even longer than before. She reached for her tunic, pulling it over her head and hiding the red marks of lipstick on her neck. Somewhere in the back, Rose was reapplying lipstick.
I crossed my arms over my chest, staring at the girl. She was toying with her combat helmet now, adjusting some of the visor settings. “So, what’s your name now?” I asked, obviously through with being lied to. I looked from Rose to Mandiya, who only furrowed her thick brows and ignored me. “Ren’s harpy? Rose’s harpy? Corellian bastard? You know you think you’re so smug for someone who could have their secrets outed for a sec-“
“Rellia, Rogan Rellia is my pfaasking name.” She spat, putting on her helmet. My dissatisfied expression turned smug and I stepped aside, watching the shadow leave through the door. Rose, on the other hand, had her face in her hands. As if she had sensed I had opened my mouth, she held up her finger, sighing,
“I can explain.”
“You can explain but you can’t make me keep this secret. How come you didn’t tell me Mandiya-“ I stopped, correcting myself, “Rellia, is a woman? You’re fucking her for Force’s sake, you expect me to stay quiet? Friend or not, I can’t keep this like it is!”
She stared at me, hands pressed together in a begging motion. “Just, let me explain.”
“Fine,” I said, looking away. “You’ll explain on the way to Canto Bight. And I get to take a passenger with us.”
“All fine by me.” She sighed, relieved that her face wouldn’t be making Imperial newspapers.
