Rift Station: Open Worlds by mizal
As an Emittier, you're a stony-skinned, stocky yet powerfully built herbivorous quadruped, from the planet Emitti. You place a lot of importance both in cooperation and in fiercely protecting your family and friends, things that were necessary for the early survival of your species in the arctic cold of your homeworld.

The tundras and taigas that dominated the landmasses left your kind with hides a half an inch thick, the surface of which can harden to a glossy sheen in extreme conditions or when under duress. Oddly, this reaction protects you from the application of heat as well as cold, and the thin gel your body secretes to create it forms a fast-acting seal over wounds to staunch bleeding and prevent infection. (Emittier never developed fur or hair, and there are no mammals on the planet; your ancestors fed their young by breaking down food in a specialized second stomach before regurgitating it.)

Humans sometimes call your kind 'skinflints', which as you understand it is an unflattering term when they use it in reference to each other, but merely a descriptive one for your own species. Male Emittier are differentiated from females mainly by a set of bony protrusions curving back and down from behind their eye ridges, to make a kind of set of mock horns jutting out at jaw level.

Your hind legs are slightly shorter than your front, but both sets are thick and powerful, and combined with the rest of your build allow you to charge forward and bowl over creatures twice your size unless they have the sense to flee. The toes of your front paws are long enough to handle basic object manipulation, and you can even walk on your hind legs for short periods. In addition your prehensile tail is split at the end into a pair of lightly armored graspers.

Modern Emittier don't really wear clothes, except perhaps a kind of loincloth when working with Humans, with Human modesty in mind. Instead they adorn themselves with jewels of all cuts and colors, sometimes with data gems or energy crystals disguised among them. Most Emittier speak the Human language as well, since the deep guttural notes and bellows of your language are difficult for Humans to reproduce, and the tone and pitch can have as much meaning as the words themselves.

Psychologically and in the way you interact and form bonds, your kind have a great deal of similarities to Humans, although in your personal opinion they can be a bit shifty and unstable. You never trust a Human quite as much as another Emittier, and statistics prove you right on this given the number of Humans that become unbalanced enough to commit crimes against even their own kind.

Still, the two species interact frequently through information exchange, business, diplomacy, and tourism, and rarely have any major trouble.
On second thought, I'm some other kind of alien.
