The women entered the room and embraced Hansel and Gretel.
"Oh children, I never wanted to abandon you in the forest," the women said. "We were starving but now with these jewels and pearls you brought back we will never starve again."
The woman was overjoyed but not by Hansel and Gretel's return, but with what they brought back. She would use the jewels to by whatever she wanted as she had complete control over the house. And when they ran out of money and they began to starve once more, you'd bet she would be ready to abandon the children once more. Maybe she should abandon the woodcutter next time. When has he ever brought back Jewels? Anyway, they all lived happily ever after, Maybe?
