The merchant paces back and forth wildly, wringing his hands. It has been a few months since he hired the travellers to investigate Neskos on that fateful day, and he has not heard from them. Worry paints his features. His business is fading.
He sends more groups of individuals, but not one returns. Wild rumors spread like a disease through the cities and towns. Everyone seems to have their own theory as to what is truly happening, but no one wants to investigate. Hysteria rises, and the panic reaches a fever pitch.
A subset of the royal guard is sent by the King in order to determine the problem.
As they rest in the nearby forest, a low ranking knight awakens in a cold sweat. He mentions to his allies that he had a very strange dream.
They brush it off, and continue marching the next day.
