The Sanguine and Blackbeard's Cutlass

“Freddy, have you seen Procter?” you ask.
“He’s still playing those kids and their chickens,” he replies.
“At least that shows we’re not conquering invaders. I saw some of the natives give us the stink eye.”
“True, but that doesn’t mean they won’t fire those nasty-looking arrows at us once they don’t need us anymore,” Freddy says.

“I don’t know about that,” Victoria interjects. “Don’t you know the captain is their god in the flesh? What sort of people would fire arrows at their god?”
“What sort of people sharpen their teeth?” Freddy retorts.
“The natives seem friendly enough to me,” Victoria says. “They could have attacked us when we first arrived, instead they invite us into their village.”
“All I know is I’m not turning my back on one of them. They are useful as long as they guide us to the temple,” Freddy says.

We’re in agreement then,” you conclude. “We’ll accept their help, tentatively. If they show any hint of betrayal, we’ll strike first. Let’s get on with it...and someone please get Procter.”
