The Sanguine and Blackbeard's Cutlass

“Run her down,” you say.
“With pleasure,” she replies. Shouting from the helm, she adds on, “Ready the cannons, and let loose the sails! We’ve found ourselves a prize!”

The crew cheers and get to work. The sails unfold and catch a gust of wind propelling The Sanguine forward. Sailors scramble to prepare for the upcoming battle placing cannonballs and muskets at an arm’s reach. Grappling hooks are put on both the port and starboard side for boarding.

You spin the wheel maneuvering the schooner towards its prey. The smoothness of the pegs allows you to spin it with ease. The Sanguine glides over a wave spraying misty water into the air. Within minutes you catch up to the vessel. Another look through the eyeglass reveals its colors: Spain.

“Slow ‘em down with the forward cannon!” you command from the wheel.
“Aye, Captain!”

The gunner loads the cannon that’s placed directly at the bow and fires it at the Spanish vessel ahead. The grapeshot tears through its mast tearing through rope, cloth, and sends splinters showering upon the seamen below. A hearty cheer echoes from the deck of The Sanguine at the first blow being dealt. With their sails compromised, you easily catch the ship.
