Midnight Snack
I decide that I should say goodbye to Jacob before I make my escape. I grab an empty basket of coffee beans and pretend that I am emptying it into a chute on the side of the processing building. On my way back, I speak to Jacob.
"I am about to escape this wretched place." I whisper to him.
"Well if you will, you need to know something." He answers. "Behind the gate is a steel panel. There are wires sticking through a hole in it. One of the wires is labeled, 'POWER.' You will need to cut this wire with pliers to get out."
"How do I get pliers?" I ask.
"I saw a pair in the processing building, behind the brewer. I don't think David is there. Now's your chance." I sneak over there and search behind the huge brewer. There is, in fact, a pair of flimsy-looking pliers. I snatch the pliers and sprint back to Lot #187, and thank Jacob one last time. On my way to the main gate, I grab the gutter and dismantle it, making two sharp weapons, just in case. Finally, I get to the main gate, and put the sturdy key through the deep keyhole. The gate swings open, revealing the tall, steel panel. There are three wires sticking out of a hole in it. One labeled, "POWER" I snip it with the pliers, causing the whole thing to flop over. I book it into the tropical savanna, until I reach a road. A pickup truck cruising by doesn't notice me, and I hop in the back. The truck takes me to the city and I eventually make it back home safely. But, I am still hungry.
