To Make Magic

You slide open the door to the boy's compartment, and it takes them a full minute to notice you trying to slide your way in.

"Hiya," says one boy, jumping from the seat across from you to the seat next to you, then plopping down and grinning right in your face. "Is everywhere else full?"

"Er, yes," you say, slightly shy in the face of all these rowdy boys - although, now that they've settled down, it appears there are only four of them, which isn't so intimidating.

"Well no problem, you can sit with us if you like," says the boy, still talking about six inches away from your face.

"Thanks," you reply with a small smile, doing your best to pull away casually. "What are you guys doing?"

"Well, we all made a bet to see who could play hot lava the longest before falling onto the floor," said the smallest boy, now standing on the seat in the opposite corner from you. "But since this compartment is so small we thought we'd make it more interesting - if you want to play, you have to keep moving constantly, if you stay still for longer than three seconds you're out! Plus, we get to throw stuff at you, which is always fun."
