I didn't know the recorders were still active in the Throne room. I didn't even know that we could catch the signal on this holo, it was usually all popcorn like whenever I tried to access even the closest recorders in the offices. I stared at the screen as it tried to stabilize. This was probably either a still undeleted signal that the holo picked up for no reason, or a recorder Snoke actually didn't notice and left in. If the screen doesn't revert to normal and show a picture, it's the former over the latter. I didn't know which choice I would like better.
Rose came back, carrying a thick fur blanket and plopping it down over my withering form. She slipped the coat from over me (I didn't really wish for that), and she left it on the chair. That reminded me that Hux was still out for the night and had still not retired to get atleast one sleep cycle in this week. Rose had retied her hair and she had a few strands flying in front of her eyes, lips pursed tightly. "I'm going to make you some broth, I know you like broccoli." At the thought of that green goodness, hopefully steamed, I licked my lips and went under the blanket, nodding. She smiled a little at me, snickering on her way to the kitchen. "Still can't understand how you can eat that."
"I'm not from Parnassos, remember?" I called out, feeling my voice glands give off a little. Maybe I was truly getting sick and had some bacteria inside my intestines. Rose was grunting in the kitchen and I heard crinkling of packets, making my stomach turn when I realized just how hungry I was. Rose was not the best cook in the world, but she knew how to boil some vegetables. "What about some fish? Maybe you're lacking B12."
I gagged, watching the screen turn from black to defining some shape, getting out of the blur and showing the red, royal room. "Did you know Rellar?" I heard only a smacking of her lips as I presumed she continued eating something from my packet of frozen vegetables, before she responded. "I do know him, met him once. He gave me the necklace I'm wearing, it wards off bad energy and brings me luck." A shiver passed through me. So I was accessing her memories?
I tried not to focus on that almost horrifying idea as I blinked, confused, watching the even more puzzling scene take place through the recorder. Turned with his back was Kylo Ren, doing something with his hands from an angle I couldn't see. He was speaking, or humming from how far away he was from the audio recorder, while the rest of the Throne room was completely empty.
"Your broccoli's cook-" I looked up as best as I could at Rose walking back into the living room, finally noticing the sizzling of boiling water in the back while watching Rose nibble on half-fried fish. Maybe Raller was true about what he said about people on Parnassos. "What's this?" She whispered, sitting down on her sofa an holding her plate close as she ate what was probably oversalted Arkanis salmon. "I'm not sure." I answered, pulling my knees up towards myself even as I was laying.
When Ren moved away, I saw what he was doing. He had been braiding a small braid into the side of the passenger's hair, which was now trimmed to his shoulders. The rest of the raven like hair laid in a pile at Kylo's feet. The passenger was sitting with his back to us as well.
"Is he.." Rose started, looking at me in bewilderment and then at the holo. Kylo carried a lightsaber in his hand, which was not lit, and wasn't his. From it hung the pebble I saw him hold when we gave the passenger to the Supreme Leader, still glowing against Ren's hand. It was a kyber crystal, almost parched. Unstable. "Ren's making him his apprentice. Those are padawan braids." I whispered, mostly to block my voice from interrupting any noise we could potentially hear from Kylo or the other..Sith. Rose had stopped eating her fish and was biting at her cuticles nervously.
"I looked into you and saw what I needed to." Kylo spoke, eyes stern and studying the man's face. He handed the lightsaber and the crystal to him, a ritualistic moment I had only heard about from Dex when talking about Obi-Wan Kenobi and the rest of the old Jedi's. The passenger accepted them, showing one metal and one real hand. The crystal gleamed in his hand and he gently pressed it against the saber, before it fit into the slot it was meant to be in and the lightsaber turned on.
I heard Rose gasp audibly. The lightsaber was bright, flickering in his hand, two openings on the sides like Kylo's. But, these one's curved inwards like sais I had seen before in training room, meaning the power of the broken crystal was too much for one normal opening. I set my hand over my mouth and watched, feeling like I'll either pass out or storm in there and see what was truly going on. But, I didn't do anything, only blinked and stared.
Kylo marvelled as the man stood up and wooshed the saber around gently, lowering his head when he was done. He kneeled infront of Kylo and the Supreme Leader smiled, or atleast it looked like it from the glitching of the recorder. "You're strong, and a good ally. You need training, someone to help you gather that power inside of you." He set a hand on the passenger's shoulder and he turned off the lightsaber.
For the first time I heard him speak, in a broken, throaty voice. "I'm ready to learn, Master Ren."
Ren smiled a little wider and I felt goosebumps go up my legs, the mechanical whirring of what seemed like - horns? Sprout out of the forehead of the passenger. They were metallic, and when the entire charade fell into light, I noticed that it was a technical mask, a helmet to keep the boy's face closed out of sight. Kylo let him stand and I swear I heard him laugh a little in my mind. I felt like the passenger was smiling underneath there too.
"And I am willing to teach you, Mandiya."
