Midnight Snack

As I finish what's left of the Sprite, the fridge in front of me topples over, revealing thin stalks of sugar cane that were apparently hidden behind. Every last ground floor window is shattered at once, revealing more thin sugar canes and soil. Outside the now shattered windows of the house is a broad field of sugar canes. The house is now shaking, about to collapse under the now soft soil. I run for the front door, but in the short time I had to escape the house, the ceiling split open, and a full-sized chest of drawers lands in front of me, breaking the wooden floor beneath. Behind me, another heavy piece of furniture rests in my way. The entire house collapses under its own weight; the dust and debris fogging up the air. As I regain my vision, I notice that all of the rubble has disappeared.

I find myself in a thick and heavy sugar cane field with no sign of human life. The sugar canes look lively, and ready to be harvested, so I presume that someone will come to collect the sugar canes and find me trespassing. Night is coming soon, and I would like to find my way back to civilization with a sense of sight, instead of in the dead night.

I tread through the soft soil, wearing only socks, so the occasional rock gives my foot a stab. After a good few minutes of walking through the field, I find a clearing, where a rather large empty wheelbarrow rests. I use what's left of my energy to flip the wheelbarrow over, revealing a gaping hole in the side of the wheelbarrow, and a vast, green tarp resting behind. This may be a decent shelter. I can use this, or keep on trucking through the field, which I'm nearing the edge of. Only twenty more minutes of walking and I'll be through the field.
