Time Traveler

The travel time is very fast. I must be close in time and place to where I was last. As I take in my surroundings I conclude that I am somewhere in France. There is one automobile, the old electric style, in front of the building, a residence, somewhere in the countryside. I knock on the front door. I am now confident that history has placed me here and that I will soon understand why. At the moment, though, I do not know where this is or what I am doing here.

A maid answers the door. I ask for the master of the house. She replies that Col. Myszkowski is napping and cannot be disturbed. Now I know why I am here, or I think I might. The Myszkowski cipher is famous. Has he invented it already? I look at the machine and it tells me it is 1902. I do not know what year his cipher was invented or described in print. What should I do?
