Spellbound Tome Quests

Narrative:
Bandits, you think. Dressed in well camouflaged tans and dull greens, their faces are all masked by bandannas. There are five of them: two wield spears, one a sword and board, one a large axe, and one a thaumaturge's spell focus. It seems words won't work here.

Actions:

Based on your previous roll, your first round of combat will be affected. Combat goes as follows: players first, then bandits, then the next round of combat. If you lost your first round of combat, you will not obey this order until the second round. If you gained an extra attack, this will be performed in the first round of combat.

For combat text, designate a willing party member to write for the bandit's actions. Success of attacks is determined by rolls and which target is being pursued.

Rolling Rules

There are five bandits: A spearman, a spearwoman, a shieldbearer, a thaumaturge, and the bandit leader (axe wielder). The hit threshold is determined by which target is being pursued.

Thaumaturge: 500+ to hit.
Spearman and Spearwoman: 540+ to hit.
Axe wielder: 560+ to hit.
Shieldbearer: 600+ to hit.

Each bandit will strike on their turn. The designated combat DM will roll using /random for their attacks. The hit threshold is determined by player gear.

Linen-type armor: 500+ to hit.
Leather-type armor: 540+ to hit.
Plate-type armor: 570+ to hit.
Shields: Add 20 to the hit threshold.

Attack types

Each type of bandit will attack in a unique way.

The thaumaturge will cast, attempting to do so at a distance, using ice and fire.

The spearman and spearwoman will both attack with a lance, attempting to slash and stab.

The axe-wielding bandit leader will attempt heavy swings with a two handed axe.

The shieldbearer will slash and stab with a sword while attempting to protect the thaumaturge.

Waypoint markers are advised to indicate where each bandit is and moved accordingly.

Health rules

Each player has a pool of 5 health points. If this reaches 0, you are incapacitated and cannot act for further combat rounds.

Each bandit has a pool of 3 health points. If this reaches 0, they are killed -- or incapacitated if you so choose -- and cannot act for further combat rounds.
